McConnell, Susan A. (née Blessing) (Died)

McConnell, Susan A. Susan A. McConnell nee Blessing of Glenview, died May 23 at age 69. She was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, the daughter of Lucille and the late Russell Blessing. She is survived by her husband, John W. McConnell; her children, Elizabeth (John) Gharagozlou of Palatine, Margaret (Frank) Torres of Palatine, Kennedy (Rebecca) McConnell of Trevor, Wisconsin, David (Brina) McConnell of Glenview and Gordon (Shellie) McConnell of Mundelein; and eight grandchildren. She leaves her sister, Jayne (Michael) Riley of Homewood; sisters-in-law Linda McConnell of Peotone and Paulette McConnell of Auburn, California; and a niece, Shannon (Chris) Crafton of Tennessee. She was a graduate of Thornton Township High School in Harvey and the University of Chicago. She started her teaching career in the mathematics department at Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook until 1970 with the birth of her first child. She continued teaching as a Confirmation teacher at Grace Lutheran Church in Mt. Prospect for 17 years, and was an active scout leader for Glenview Troop 55 and Pack 559 for over 25 years. A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, May 28, from 9:30 AM until time of memorial service 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 1624 E. Euclid Ave., Mt. Prospect, IL, 60056.
