Fifth Grade Band and Orchestra Spring Concert, will take place from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Monday and the Sixth Grade band and Orchestra Spring Concert will take place from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Regina Dominican High School.

Parents can honor a faculty or staff member or their eighth grade graduates with a Certificate of Appreciation from the District 39 Educational Foundation. Make a tax-deductible donation to the Foundation (minimum online donation $39) and the school will create and deliver a beautiful keepsake certificate for the honoree. For more information, or to order a certificate, go to www.d39foundation.org and look for the Wall of Honor/Certificate of Appreciation links.

Extra volunteers in the library are being sought for the next few weeks to help shelve books and get the LMC in good shape for the end of the year. Preferably there’ll be at least two volunteers a day (just for one hour each) this month and the first week in June, as student checkouts end and the school starts to put all of the books back in order. For more information, e-mail Ellen Hummel (efhummel@comcast.net) with a preferable day and time.

Volunteers are still needed during lunch, for the Outdoor Classroom as an alternative to the playground. Activities include games, reading, science, cooking, art and hands-on interactions with nature. Parent volunteers are needed to supervise students in the garden from 11:10 a.m.- 12:50 p.m. every day. Gardening experience is not necessary. To sign up, visit www.wilmette39.org/highcrest/outdoorclassroom. For more information, contact Cathy Taylor at cathytaylor700@earthlink.net.

Dental Exam forms for current sixth grade students need to be submitted tomorrow. Forms can be found on the Highcrest Health Office’s website or the District’s website. All incoming students in sixth grade must submit proof of a current physical exam and immunizations. The Physical Examination Form also has a section, called “Health History,” that must be completed by the parent/guardian. Forms will be returned if this section is incomplete. This form can be downloaded from either Highcrest Health Office’s website or the district’s website. This form may be returned between now and the start of the 2011-12 school year. For more information, e-mail strunkp@wilmette39.org.
