Rhyne, Arthur Clifton Age 95, of Wilmette, died at Evanston Hospital in Evanston, IL on April 28, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette, 600 9th Street, Wilmette, Illinois 60091. A native of Merigold, Mississippi, he was born to the late William Clifton and Josephine Brandt Rhyne on September 3, 1915. He had two older brothers, George William Rhyne and Thomas Clay Rhyne, both now deceased. He was a graduate of Pass Christian (Mississippi) High School, where he was valedictorian of his class and captain of the football team, and received his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Mississippi in 1937. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lois Kunzelman Ford Rhyne. His first wife, Marjorie Lamothe Rhyne, of New Orleans, Louisiana, died in 1967 after 25 years of marriage. He was employed at General Gas Corporation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for 14 years where he served as Secretary-Treasurer. Following the acquisition of General Gas by Tuloma Gas Products, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and served as Controller. When Tuloma was merged with American Oil Company (Amoco) in 1968, Arthur moved to Chicago and was employed as Assistant Comptroller for 14 years until retirement in 1982. Arthur was an avid golfer, with 4 holes-in-1 to his credit, and was still playing regularly into his 90's. He was a member of the Michigan Shores Club in Wilmette, the American Society of CPA's, and the Financial Executives International. In addition to his wife, Lois, he is survived by son Art Rhyne, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter Margie Rhyne Cannity and husband Rick of Raleigh, North Carolina; son Trent Rhyne and wife Donna of Raleigh, North Carolina; step-daughter Mary Ford Pulsifer and husband Jim of Clarendon Hills; step-son Don Ford, Jr. of Wilmette; step-son Rich Ford and wife Kristin of Portland, Oregon; and step-son Steve Ford of Glencoe; sister-in-law Karin Dannbauer Rhyne of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette Memorial Fund.
