Pennies for Peace raised over $1200! Student Council appreciates all of the effort and every single penny! Student Council also donated a weeks worth of sales from the Tingey store which added $300 and donated another $500 to UNICEF for the children of Japan.

Central School's Garden Committee needs new and returning volunteers to help prepare Central's wonderful garden for spring planting. Interested volunteers should meet in the garden at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

The PTA Executive Board for the 2011-2012 school year is Sarina McBride, president; Stephanie Williams, president elect; Tracy Peacock, second vice president enrichment; Molly Ervin, third vice president communications; Stacey Woerhle, fourth vice president special events; Katherine Byrnes and Meagan Carmichael, fifth vice presidents fundraising; Stacey Pigott, sixth vice president volunteers; Karen Holmberg, secretary; Kathryn Friedman, treasurer.

Central PTA Board still has the following positions open: Club Central co-chairs, cafeteria, communications assistant for the website, civics and safety, international club, publicity, and co-chair for math and science night. Teacher Appreciation Week begins Monday.

The D39 Educational Foundation is honoring Carole Dibo as the Citizen of the Year Tuesday. Dibo, the first HMS and WJHS Variety Show director and owner of the Wilmette Theatre, has greatly influenced the lives of many young actors in Wilmette. Tickets can be purchased online at www.d39foundation.org.

The PTA is offering parents the opportunity to order school supplies for the 2011-2012 school year. The sale runs through May 6th.

Volunteers are needed for recess for all days. To sign up, contact Susan Gallagher at sfgallagher@mac.com.
