Glow, Stanley A. 94, a long time resident of Evanston, Illinois passed away Friday, February 4, 2011 in Lake Barrington, Illinois where he had resided since 2005. He was born on December 16, 1916 in Toledo, Ohio. Stanley was the beloved husband for 69 years to the late Dorothy Glow. He is survived by his son Judd (Margie) Glow of Cary, Illinois, his daughter Marcia Glow of Los Angeles, California, and his grandchildren Eric (Kim) Glow, Meghan Glow, and Alessandra Torresani. As a young teen, Stanley achieved the prestigious status of Eagle Scout and remained an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing and hunting. He earned his Undergraduate Degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Master's Degree from the University of Michigan. He served his country in the US Army and then began his teaching career at Michigan State University before joining the staff at Evanston Township High School in 1952. It was there he was Department Chair for Industrial Education, and later Superintendent of Building and Grounds until he retired in 1977. Stanley was a natural teacher and leader, a loyal friend to many, a devoted family man and an excellent role model to all of his students. Beyond his teaching profession, he was also a talented craftsman whether building homes or creating children's wooden toys. His favorite role was supporting his three grandchildren no matter where their interests led them. Services will be scheduled in Toledo, Ohio at a later date.
