A memorial service for Rudolph Samuels was held Monday at the first Congregational Church of Wilmette. Mr. Samuels died Jan. 12 [1989]. Mr. Samuels was born May 22, 1902 in Chicago. He graduated from the University of Chicago in 1923 and moved to Paris, France, where he established a perfume bottle company. He married Margaret Sullivan in 1934 and in 1939 settled in Wilmette. From 1939 to 1983 he worked as advertising manager for Stein and Ellbogen, a wholesale jewelry company in Chicago. He was the oldest member of the Golden Roosters, an association of men in the jewelry business in Chicago. Throughout his life he traveled extensively and maintained interest in watercolor painting, interior design, the stock market and the sports world. He moved to Olivet, Michigan, in 1986. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Jo Scott of Olivet and Marjorie Buchbinder of Miami, Fla.; his son, Lt. Col. Thomas A. Samuels of Enterprise, Ala.; his sister, Marion Wightman of Garden Grove, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. Burial was at Memorial Park in Skokie.
