The league was organized nationally in 1919 when women received the franchise, and it has grown each year. It is non-partisan, neither supports nor opposes any candidate for public office, and is not bound by any party affiliation. "At this time, the role of the League of Women Voters is of special importance," writes M r s . Nelson Morris, newest member of the national board. "While we are not alone in the job we are trying to do, we are adept at working with groups in our community to arrive at a common understanding of the issues of the day. We believe that informed people can make sound decisions and that democracy depends upon alert citizens actively participating in government. While as yet we can be only of influence in our own country, we know that a stable United States m a y be the determining factor in world stability. Most important of all, we have a long record of finding the tools and techniques whereby our friends and neighbors can meet the problems with facts and not fiction." M r s . George Siebel continued as president of the Kenilworth league for the coming year. M r s . Clarence Happ, vice-president in charge of programs, has secured speakers well fitted to inform the members on local, national and international affairs. Anan Raymond, village president of Kenilworth, outlines a p r o g r a m of vital matters of local interest. As a result of this letter, a local affairs committee has been formed under the chairmanship of M r s . F r a n k l i n G . Moore, who will be assisted by M r s . C a r l K i r k , chairman of the department of structure of government. It is hoped that more Kenilworth women will become interested in the league and will become active in this project. M r s .
