Wade Ray died Saturday at his Wilmette home at the age of 83. He was president from 1969-95 of an art school run by his family, known as Ray-Vogue School of Design, and later, Ray College of Design. His parents, Ruth Wade and William F. Ray, founded it in 1916. The college evolved into the Illinois Institute of Art.

Mr. Ray's sister, Ruth Bremner, and so, Charles, are artists.

Mr. Ray is also survived by his daughter Elizabeth "Stacie" Ray and his sons Andrew and Charles. His son Aaron died before him. A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Church. Burial is at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Northbrook.
