- Many north shore suffragists are planning to attend the forty-fourth annual convention of the Illinois Equal Suffrage association which will convene on Oct. 1 and 2 in the Presbyterian church in Galesburg, Ill. One hundred and fifty delegates from Cook county, representing the leading women's clubs are expected to attend. A heated contest on the floor of the convention over the election of a new president is expected. Mrs. Grace Wilbur Trout has been promised the support of the entire Chicago delegation to the convention. Mrs. Elvira Downey of Clinton, Ill., is the retiring president. There will be addresses pf welcome by the president of the Galesburg Political Equality League and the mayor of Galesburg. A response will be delivered by Rev. Kate Hughes of Table Grove, Ill. The principal event of the afternoon's program will be a discussion on "How to get Suffrage Money." At 3 o'clock there will be addresses by the following woman candidates for trustees of the University of Illinois: Mrs. Ellen M. Henrotin, Mrs. Carrie T. A. Bahrenberg, Miss Helen Hood, Mrs. Raymond Robins, Miss Mary O'Reilly, Miss Flora F. Watson, Mrs. Hazel B. Cheney and Mrs. Josephine C. Kaneko. The session will close with an address by Mrs. Florence Bennett Peterson of Chicago. The Galseburg Children's Chorus, led by Miss Strong will give a recital on Tuesday evening, and following there will be addresses by Mrs. Fannie M. Worthington of Sterling, William Dudley Foulke of Richmond, Ind., and Mrs. Grace Wilbur Trout of Oak Park. Wednesday afternoon Mrs. Raymond Robins and Mrs. Louise K. Torbet will speak.
