- Thomas G. Lyons, a veteran Chicago politician who chaired the Cook County Democratic Party for nearly 17 years died in an Evanston nursing home on Jan. 12. He was 75. His cousin is State Rep. Joseph Lyons, D-19th. Lyons is survived by his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Alexandria Cooney and Rachel Cooper; two sons, Frank and Thomas; and eight grandchildren.
