- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Day is a federal holiday and intended as a day of service. More than 100 residents of New Trier Township's five villages gathered Monday at the Baha'i House of Worship in Wilmette to make blankets and scarves who might need them in times of trouble for Project Linus. The project was organized by Barb Tubekis, executive director of the Volunteer Center of New Trier Township.
