Rosalind P. Childe, 82, of Chicago drove completely across Veteran's Park, Oct. 9. from the alley to the 1100 block of Central Avenue, then left the car in a legal parking space and headed to an appointment, police said.
She was charged with improper lane usage, operation of an uninsured vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident without providing information. She also was cited under Wilmette codes for damaging village property and negligent driving.
Childe was released after posting 10 percent of $2,000 bail, and is scheduled to appear Nov. 29 in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court, 5600 Old Orchard Road, Skokie.
Police say they sent a request to the Secretary of State's Office for a driver's license re-examination and a medical test for Childe.
