Exhibits to open at Fort Sheridan: Bird's nest for 25, World War II canon highlights

The new Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve is located just off of Sheridan Road between Highland Park, Highwood and Lake Forest. The preserve has organized an exhibit of World War II era displays artifacts detailing military history of the former Army base and special exhibits about the preserve's natural resources. The most unusual feature of the exhibit is a giant Hawk's Nest observatory atop one of the ravines. The nest features three large fabricated bird's eggs children can play with and panels with information about red-tailed hawks and other birds.
