- Kristine McCorkick joined the New Trier softball team after she didn't make the cut for varsity soccer during March tryouts. That fortunate choice allowed her RBI single in the fourth inning Saturday allowed New Trier have a 3-1 victory over top-seeded Loyola Academy in the championship game of the Class AA Nile North Sectional. The tragic death of her cousin, Ari Chester, the first week of the regular season helped create a void in the outfield that resulted in McCormick's promotion to the varsity team.
