- Howard E. Higgins, 60, of 204 Ridge road, Wilmette, died Nov. 7. Mr. was a descendant of Benjamin Emerson, who came to Evanston in 1832. Mr. Higgins' relatives included Civil War Gen. Philip Sheridan, and Higgins' great-grandfather, John Happ, was the first circuit-riding judge from Chicago to Waukegan. Survivors are his widow, Margaret Hoffman Higgins; his mother; a daughter, Shirley; three sisters, Mrs Mary Reinwald, Mrs. Bernice Kutz, and Mrs. Vivian Drozd; and a brother, John, all of Northfield.
