Lillian Scott Calhoun, 82, formerly of Kenilworth, died Jan. 25 at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.

Mrs. Calhoun was born June 21, 1923, in Savannah, Ga., She married Harold Calhoun, whom she met at Ohio State, and the couple moved to Kenilworth in 1964 as the first African-American family to live there.

Mrs. Calhoun and her sister, Gertrude Martin, founded Calmar Communications Inc., a public relations and advertising firm in 1978.
Survivors, in addition to her sister, include two daughters, Laura and Karen; two sons, Harold and Walter; three grandchildren, Samantha; and five nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Services were held Feb. 1 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Chicago.
