- Scott D. Simon of Highland Park and John Fitzpatrick of Lake Bluff are leaders in conservation work. Simon is director of the Arkansas Chapter of the Nature Conservancy and Fitzpatrick, director of the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology. They were in town Nov. 30 to speak on the need to conserve habitat for the ivory-billed woodpecker and other species.
