- Eileen Murdock of Wilmette who grew up in New Orleans, will host a Midwest Mardi Gras event Friday at the Chicago Cultural Center in Chicago. The event will raise funds for a newly formed not-for-profit, Katrina Children's Charity. The goal is to send care packages to children in the gulf region, most likely backpacks filled with toys and practical items such as school supplies.
