- Wilmette resident William P. Van Benschoten, 74, died May 18 at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Harriet; son, William H; two grandsons; and two sisters Ruth Phipps of Evanston and Marjorie Parr of Moline. A private memorial service was held May 24 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
