Former local man dies in explosion; services held here [Ralph E. Jaeger]

Funeral services for Ralph E. Jaeger, former resident of Wilmette, who was killed in an explosion on December 28, were held at St. Joseph's cemetery on Sunday, January 16, following the arrival of the body from Los Angeles.
Mr. Jaeger was employed in Los Angeles by the General Petroleum corporation, and was at work welding a pipe leading to the main gas line when a fire broke out in the plant, causing a tremendous explosion. His body was recovered twelve days later from the water along the pier, into which it was hurled, and was shipped to Wilmette.
Mr. Jaeger is survived by a wife, Mrs. Maude Jaeger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fischer of 1618 Wilmette avenue, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jaeger, of Bloomington, three sisters and three brothers. They are Mrs. Clara Knecht and Miss Emma Jaeger of Bloomington, Mrs. William Jagie of Lincoln, Ill., Walter Jaeger of Proctor, Minn., and Elmer and Otto Jaeger of Bloomington.- Featured Link
