John Thornhill Ling, 1116 Greenwood avenue, died suddenly at the wheel of his automobile last Saturday evening, of heart disease. He had been attending a basketball game at the Patten gymnasium of Northwestern university, in Evanston, with his wife and son. He complained of feeling ill and left the gymnasium before the end of the game. After starting his motor car he was seized with a heart attack and fell dead over the wheel, the car running up on a parkway where it stopped. An Evanston policeman was nearby and took the stricken man to the Evanston hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Funeral services for Mr. Ling were held from the home Tuesday afternoon of this week, Dr. Hubert Carleton of St. Augustine's Episcopal church, officiating. Burial was at Memorial Park.
