- A conservative group's plan to run an opposing slate of delegates to the Republican National Convention failed to secure sufficient signatures to get on the ballot in the 10th Congressional District. Most members are from the group called the Republican Assembly of Lake County. The group planned to challenge the official Republican Party slate of Bush delegates, which includes Tom Adams of Green Oaks, Mark Peterson of Lincolnshire, Richard Wiliamson of Kenilworth and Sheila Weinberg of Glencoe
