- Wilmette resident Hal DeMar launched a legal battle against the village ordinance which outlaws the handgun he believes may have saved his live from a home invader. Assistant State's Attorney Steve Goebel dismissed a misdemeanor charge which had been filed against DeMar for failing to renew his Firearm Owner Identification Card, a state requirement.
