Notes
The village found itself at the center of the gun debate after the incident in which police said Wilmette resident, Hale DeMar, shot a man who had burglarized his east side home. DeMar was not charged in the shooting itself, but he does face a misdemeanor charge for allegedly not having a current firearm owner's registration. Comments by Herb Sorock, Ralf Seiffe and Cindy Falzer of Wilmette who are opposed to the ordinance. Comments by Police Chief George Carpenter, former trustee Mimi Ryan, trustee Bernard Michna, village president Nancy Canafax who are in favor of the ordinance.
