- Betty Pool Martin, 85, a former resident of Winnetka and Northfield, died Friday, Dec. 26, in her Evanston residence. Mrs. Martin was born Nov. 14, 1918 in New York City. Survivors include five sons, William A. Jr. of Deerfield, Peter (Terry Stirling) of Glenview, James P. (Linda) of Winnetka, Christopher (Betty Ann) and John J. (Sally) of Winnetka; two daughters, Cathy Donnelly (Dave Foote) of Wilmette and Mimi (Terry) Harris of Northbrook; 15 grandchildren, Halley and William Martin, Kelly, Christopher and Elizabeth Donnelly, Michael and Jesse Foote, Jeannine, Emily, Lise and Christopher Martin, Robert and Andrew Harris, and Zachary and Nicholas Martin; a sister, Jane (the late John) Goodman of Evanston; and two brothers, William (Alice) Pool of Evanston and Chris (Ellen) Pool of Morro Bay, Calif.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by a sister, Rita (the late Bill) Cornish; and three brothers, Fred (Mary Lou) Pool, Thomas Pool and John J. Pool. Visitation was held Monday, Dec. 29, at Donnellan Family Funeral Home in Skokie. A requiem Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Saint Philip the Apostle Church in Northfield. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
