- Dorothy Smart Bowles, 91, died February 23, 2001 in Santa Barbara, California Born in Omaha, Neb. Preceded in death by her husband Jackson W. Smart in 1971. Survivors include her son, Allen R. Smart of Chicago; four grandchildren, John R. Montgomery of Northbrook, Dorothy M. Myers of Winnetka, Sally M. Jones of Brussels, and Jackson W. Smart III of St. Paul, Minn.; and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her second husband, Ray M. Bowles; a son, Jackson W. Smart Jr. of Winnetka, who died last year, and a daugher, Dorothy S. Montgomery, also of Winnetka.
