- Mr. Byrne died September 11 at the age of 42 at his home in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Mr. Byrne was born in Philadelphia. Survivors include his wife, Catherine O'Dowd Byrne; a son, Eugene E. Byrne III; a daughter, Kathleen Mary Byrne of Antioch; a sister, Kathleen V. (John J.) Vondran of Winnetka; a brother, William J. Byrne of Chicago; and his mother, Virginia M. McCarthy Byrne of Northfield. Interment was at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
