- Chicago lawyer and judge Robert E. English died Oct. 24 [1988] at the Brentwood North Nursing Home in Riverwoods. He was 79. Judge English was born in Omaha, Neb. in 1908. He was married to Harriet Tilden English until her death in 1980. He is survived by his wife, Carol Roig Watrous English; his daughters, Suzanne English Jones of Winnetka and Brigid English Bellantuono of Highwood; his son, Averill Anthony English of Glenview; his sister, Helen English Stuckslager of Winnetka; four grandchildren and two step-sons.
