- Alta Lappin Franzen, a former Evanston resident, died Aug. 27 [1987] at the Madison Convalescent Center in Madison, Wis. She was 84. Mrs. Franzen was born June 3, 1903 in Apple River, Ill. She lived in Evanston for over 50 years before moving to Madison in 1985. Survivors include her husband, Norman of Madison; two daughters, Linne Cain of Madison; Sandra Franzen of Denver; one sister, Betty Slawson of Los Angeles; and one sister-in-law, Marie Feddeler of Wilmette. Additional survivors include three grandchildren; four nieces; two nephews and 12 grandnieces and grandnephews.
