- Paul Knupfer, 60, died at Evanston Hospital following heart surgery last week. He was a faculty member at New Trier Township High School since 1958. A memorial service will be held Friday at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, 1140 Wilmette Av., Wilmette. Mr. Knupfer graduated from New Trier in 1944 and served briefly in the Army. In 1948 he married Eleanor "Sis" Murdock of Winnetka. Mr. Knupfer's children, who all attended New Trier, also are teachers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Katherine Knupfer of Chicago and Heidi Groves of Fargo, N.D.; two sons, Walter Knupfer of Iowa City, Iowa, and Peter Knupfer of Tempe, Ariz.; Pam August of Tuscan, Ariz. four grandchildren; and a sister, Gretel Murphy of Glenview.
