- John Robert Montgomery died Jan. 8 in Faribault, Minn. he was 63. Mr. Montgomery was born in Morristown, Minn. He later worked at Andrew Edwards Music Store at Edens Plaza in Wilmette teaching and repairing instruments. He founded Advent Instrument and Repairs and was the designer and the custom guitar maker for Hamer Guitars from the company's inception until 1985. Survivors include four children, Nancy (Tom) Actipes of Glenview, L. Christine Harris of McMinnevile, Ore., Diane (Robert) Romando of Elizabeth, Ill. and John Kenneth Montgomery of Des Plaines; and a granddaughter, Daniel Denise Harris. Funeral services were held in Morristown, Minn. Jan. 11 and interment was in Blooming Grove, Minn.
