- Deerfield resident Julia Schwall Schmidt died last Thursday in Columbus Hospital in Chicago at age 79. She was the widow of Joseph D. Schmidt Sr., a Wilmette policeman. Mrs. Schmidt is survived by a sister, Clara Michelau of Glenview; a son, Joseph D. Schmidt, Jr. of Chicago; two daughters, Muriel Hoffman of Deerfield and Marie Rasmussen of Northbrook; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Burial was at Maryhill in Niles.
