- Bruce Cushing Smith, 66, died Feb. 26 at Evanston Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; brother Cushing; children Catherine (Louis) Patler, Margaret Gail, and Mary (Dale) Weisman; and eight grandchildren, Kale, Elina, Caitlin, Johana, Kellin, Charlie, Jake, and Eliza. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Helena, and his stepson Sgt. John Phillips, USMC. There was a memorial service March 1 at the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
