- Bernice Beth Steffens, a lifelong resident of Wilmette, died Jan. 9 at Rush North Shore Medical Center, Skokie. She was 90. Her husband, Peter J. Steffens, who died in 1982, was head teller at The Wilmette Bank for 50 years. She is survived by her son and daughters, Donald (Rita) Steffens of Prospect Heights, Arlene (Mike) Olk of Mundelein, and Rosemary Steffens of Chicago; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Alice Cosmos of Deerfield. Her brothers, Leonard, Norbert, Arthur, and Harold Beth [sic], and her sister, Sister Lucretia Beth O.B.F., died before her.
