- Elizabeth "Betty" (née Kearney) Smith Ward, 93, died May 6, 2001. Preceded in death by her husbands, Edward M. Smith and Harley Ward; and a son, E. Malcolm Smith Jr. Survivors include a son, Lanway K. Smith of Las Vegas; two step-daughters, Ellen of Boca Raton, Florida and Harlene of San Francisco; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
