Philip J. Maguire, 518 Forest avenue, Wilmette, died Tuesday, July 28, at his home. Mr. Maguire was a prominent Chicago attorney. He was a director and counsel for several large insurance companies and attorney for a number of fraternal organizations. He also lectured on corporation law and insurance at the Loyola university law school. Mr. Maguire was born at Elizabeth, Ill. He came to Chicago in 1897 and was admitted to the bar in 1899. He was a member of the Edgewater Athletic club Delta Chi, the Knights of Columbus and the Medievalist club. For four years Mr. Maguire had been a resident of Wilmette. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier church. Surviving him are his widow, Gertrude Solon Maguire, a daughter, Mrs. John H. Dodman, and four sons, Solon, Philip J., Jr., Kenneth B., and Lambert, all of Wilmette; a brother, John A. Maguire, an attorney at Lincoln, Nebr., and former congressman from Nebraska, and six sisters. The funeral services were held at 10 o'clock last Friday morning from the residence, 518 Forest avenue, to St. Francis Xavier church, Ninth street and Linden avenue, Wilmette. Burial was at Calvary cemetery.
