Funeral services for John H. Brumbaugh, Jr., 13, of 1612 Lake avenue, who was killed on Tuesday when struck by a Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee electric train, were held yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Brumbaugh residence. Burial took place at Memorial Park cemetery.
John was walking along the tracks of the Skokie valley route near Northfield with Robert Willis, 14, son of Jacques Willis, 1606 Forest avenue, Wilmette, when the tragedy occurred. Both boys were Scouts and had been hiking during the day. John stepped out of the way of a northbound express train into the path of a southbound train.
The Willis boy was able to avoid being struck by jumping. The boys were unaware of the approach of the southbound train.- Featured Link
