George R. Tolen, of No. 1 Crescent place, Wilmette, vice-president and general manager of the Midland Paper company, died at 9 o'clock Sunday evening at the University hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich., rom [sic] injuries received in an automobile near Ann Arbor the previous Thursday.

Mr. Tolen was well known in the paper industry. He was a member of the Western Paper Dealers' association, the Illinois Athletic club, the Westmoreland Country club, and the Chicago Prosperity club.

Mr. and Mrs. Tolen left Wilmette Thursday morning, August 16, for an auto trip, accompanied by their three daughters, Mrs. Richard Pohlers, Arline, and Beryl. Their car overturned near Ann Arbor, throwing out its occupants. Mr. Tolen received the injuries which later caused his death. Mrs. Tolen and their daughter Mrs. Pohlers escaped with slight bruises, while Beryl and Arline suffered fractured limbs and bruises.

Funeral services for Mr. Tolen were held at the First Congregational church yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial was at Memorial Park.
