Miss Edith Nye, 1212 Elmwood avenue, is visiting relatives in Cambridge, Illinois.

Judge Huston has returned from California and is at 2110 Orrington Avenue.

Mr. Alexander Kerr, 625 University place, has gone for a two months' trip to Portland, Oregon.

Mr. Harry Van Petten, 2323 Harrison street, is away on a short business trip to St. Louis, Mo.

Mrs. C. A. Johnson of Jacksonville, Illinois, is the guest of Mrs. George H. Scurlock, 824 Hinman avenue.

Mrs. W. T. Foley and two children of Sioux City, Iowa, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. M. Foley, 920 Main Street.

Mrs. Paul Muhlman, 903 Washington street, is entertaining Mrs. Chas. E. Summers and son, Vincent, of Toledo, Ohio.

Mrs. C. P. Anthony, 1500 Maple avenue, who summered at her home in Travers City, Michigan, returned home Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kane, 1251 Asbury avenue, are home again after a two weeks' trip motoring through

Wisconsin. Mrs. Abendroth of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Miss Gregory of Milwaukee, are guests of Mrs. B. S. Crowl, 828 Sherman avenue.

Miss Edna Harrer, 1827 Orrington avenue, left Thursday for Morence, Arizona, where she will teach school the coming year.

Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Dale and family, 2327 Central street, returned Thursday from a month's outing at Onekama, Michigan.

Mr. Edwin Fountain, 1926 Asbury avenue, has returned from a week's vacation spent with his parents at Windsor, Canada.

Miss Kate Schatz, 1460 Maple avenue, who has been visiting her grandfather in Bigelow, Mo., for two weeks, has returned home.

Mrs. M. L. Kappelman and little grandson, Eldred Eade, 2414 Hartray avenue, are in Jackson, Michigan, for a visit with relatives.

Mr. Elliott Johnson, 1616 Hinman avenue, is spending a while at Nantucket, Mass., the guest at the cottage of Mrs. Percy Palmer.

Mrs. Alexander Taylor of Marcellus, Michigan, and her daughter, Miss Grace Taylor of Minneappolis, Minn., are in this city visiting friends.

Miss Lola Galloway and Miss Helen Schatz, 1460 Maple avenue, have gone on a two weeks' visit to Miss Galloway's mother at St. Louis, Mo.

Mrs. Edith Ingersoll of Los Angeles, California, who has been visiting the Karlins, 1605 Hinman avenue, returned to her home Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Brown and family, 2235 Harrison street, returned Wednesday from a two weeks' outing at Forward Movement, Saugatuck, Michigan.

Mrs. Robert G. Holabird, 2201 Harrison street, has been spending the last three weeks visiting friends in Pontiac, Michigan, returned Thursday.

Mr. John H. Witter, formerly of 2522 Ashland avenue, and wife, who have been residing in Cambridge, Mass., are now living in Peak's Island, Maine.

Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Shoemaker, 2400 Hartzell street, and Mr. and Mrs. Purdy Orvis, also of Hartzell street, have returned from a trip to Wisconsin.

Mrs. Clara Roach of Washington, D.C., who has been the guest of Dr. and Mrs. Timothy P. Frost for a week, has gone to Martinsburgh, W. Virginia.

Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Hathaaway, 821 Forest avenue, have been enjoying a visit from their son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Myers of Barstow, California, who were on their way to Washington, D.C.

Miss Mabel Mason has returned to her home at 2235 Harrison street after spending two weeks as the guest of Mrs. Fannie Britton of Thayer street, and left Saturday for Des Moines, Iowa.

Mr. Holt Hughes of San Francisco, California, the guest of the family of the Rev. Edgar Blake, 612 Church street, is en route for school at Wilbraham, Mass. His sister, Miss Isabel Holt of De Pauw University, was at Willard Hall, attending the Kappa Kappa Gamma Convention.

Miss PearlMunro 810 Washington street, and her cousin, Miss Nellie Bryant, are spending a month in Toronto and other places in Canada, and will be home soon.

Mr. and Mrs. G.A. Pond, 707 Michigan avenue, left Thursday for Minneapolis, Minn., and Lake Minatonka. Their daughter, Elizabeth, is spending next week in Wilmette.

Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Dickinson and children, Elizabeth, Henry and Edith, 1512 Maple avenue, returned last Tuesday from a three weeks' stay at Edgewater Lodge, Ephraim, Wisconsin.

Mrs. James B. Pratt of Williamstown, Mass., who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Percival H. Truman, 1602 Harrison street, has returned home, stopping at Columbus, Ohio, for a visit.

Mr. and Mrs. George E. Davis have returned form their honeymoon trip and will make their home at 614 Dempster street. Mr. Davis will be connected with Fischer Bros., the florists.

Miss Carrie Malone of Pueblo, Colorado, who has been visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. Arthur Roberts, 2202 Harrison street, left Wednesday for Denver, Colorado, where she will teach school this year.

Miss Rachel Hamilton of St. Paul, Minn., who has been visiting her grandmother,Mrs. G.A. Bennett, 843 Judson avenue, for two months, has gone for a visit to Lake City, Minn., on her way home.

Mrs. Wellington Cobb, 1111 Maple avenue, entertained Mrs. L. H. Tobey, Mrs. D. L. Cole, Mrs. J.M. Lewis and Mrs. Fred McGuire to luncheon last Tuesday and in the afternoon they attended the Matinee.

Mrs. John Reading, 5520 Davis street, left Wednesday for northern Michigan. She will visit Sault Ste. Marie and to Manistique. At the latter place she will visit her daughter, Mrs. O.C. Coleman, and will be gone two weeks.

A very beautiful hand-carved tinted bas-relief plaque of terra cotta of Rest Cottage and the National W.C.T.U. headquarters is on display in Lord's store. Mr. Lord sent to England and had these made.

Mr.and Mrs. A. C. Townsend of Wilson avenue, who have been occupying the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Fred James, 239 Greenwood boulevard, returned Friday to their Chicago home, while Mr.and Mrs. James' family came home from Plum Lake, Wisconsin.

Mrs. Charles William Spofford, 2242 Orrington avenue, entertained her mother, Mrs. Emma Merville of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, last week. Wednesday afternoon she entertained informally in her mother's honor. There were about fifteen ladies present of about Mrs. Merville's age. Dainty refreshments were a feature of the afternoon.

Mrs. Walter S. Primley, 903 Forest avenue, is entertaining her brother, Mr. Frederick Grumm, of Montreal, Canada, who will be her guest for three weeks. Thursday evening last, Mrs. Primley entertained in her brother's honor to a dinner. Covers were laid for six. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Primley and Mr. Grurrmm motored to Edgewater and remained over Sunday, the guest of Miss Cora Vawter.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter R. Kattelle of Boston, Mass., are occupying the home of Mrs. Ruth D. McKenzie during the latter's absence at Metamora, Michigan. Mrs. McKenzie is now at Grosse Point, near Detroit. Miss McKenzie will return at the opening of school to take charge of her department. Mrs. McKenzie will not return until Oct. 1.

Mr. and Mrs. Kattelle came here July 15 to take charge of a draughting room in the First National bank building, Chicago, for Lockwood, Green & Co. of Boston, architects and engineers for industrial plants.

Mrs. A. Bostrom of Winnipeg, Canada, is visiting her brother, J. Johnson, 1038 Custer avenue.

Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Rumbry have returned from a fishing trip at Lake Temagami, Ontario, Canada.

Mr. Frank G. Ewald, 750 Hinman avenue, has gone for a three weeks' vacation at Plum Lake, Wis.

Rev. George Craig Stewart returned Tuesday morning form Hyannisport, Mass., where he spent a month's vacation.

Mrs. Frank Clifton, 417 Lee street, returned last week from a visit to her sister, Mrs. John A. Yakel, at Baltimore, Maryland.

Mrs. J.A. Fancher, 1432 Elmwood avenue, left Thursday for a week's visit among friends at her old home in Racine, Wisconsin.

Mrs. Conrad Schmeisser and daughter, Esther, have gone to visit Mrs. Schmeisser's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reusch, in Joliet.

Mrs. M.J. Pettijohn of Kansas City, Mo., is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Stephen T. Walker, 820 Milburn street, for a couple of weeks.

Mr. Wallace Lane and family, 1042 Michigan avenue, have returned from a three months' stay at Swansee, Mass., Mrs. Lane's old home.

Miss Myrtle Falcon, 818 Reba place, returned home last Thursday, having spent a two weeks' vacation with her brother, Joe, at Southt Haven, Michigan.

Mrs. Frank J. Clifford, 701 Reba place, has just returned from Chicago where she was called by the illness and death of her mother, Mrs. Mary Duffy of Chicago.

Mr. Henry H. Walker, 2333 Lincoln street, sailed Friday from New York on the steamer Baltic, and will be away until October 1 in the interest of Marshall Field & Co., Chicago.

Mrs. George Craig Stewart, 404 Lee street, is expecting her niece, Miss Mildred Clyde of Chester, Pa., as her guest next week.

Mr. and Mrs. P.D. Cooley of Quincy, Ill., will be the guests of their son, Mr. William L. Cooley, 814 Forest avenue, for the winter.

Mrs. Clayton O. Billow and family, 1013 Ridge avenue, have returned from an extended trip east, visiting among relatives and friends.

Dr. A.S.C. Clarke and family, 831 Hinman avenue, returned Saturday from a farm near Toulon, Ill., where they have been this month.

Mrs. George B. Winter, son, Robert, and Mr. and Mrs. Catrow of Rogers Park, spent a week in St. Joseph, Michigan, and returned home Sunday.

Mrs. J. C. Wirts of Delavan, Wisconsin, will spend the winter in California and while on her way is visiting her sister, Mrs. J. A. Colby, 820 Hinman avenue.

Mrs. Arthur M. Morgan, 919 Monroe street, is entertaining Mrs. Frank C. Riggs and daughters, the Misses Mabel and Estelle Riggs, of Portland, Oregon.

Miss Anna Schmidt has gone to Green Bay, Wisconsin, where she will spend some time and will then go to Colorado. Miss Schmidt will be gone two months.

Mrs. H. Halvorsen and daughter, Miss Florence Halvorsen of Racine, Wisconsin, are spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. George B. Winter, 1229 Chicago avenue.

Mrs. S. W. Parsons and Miss Gertrude Parsons of Ypsilanti, Michigan, are visiting Mrs. Parsons' daughter and family, Mrs. John Armour Miller, 418 Greenleaf street.

Mr. J.W.S. Reid and daughters, Mary and Elizabeth, 943 Michigan avenue, and Miss Katharine MacLeod, 930 Michigan avenue, are in Yellowstone Park, Montana.

Mrs. John J. Stream, 1617 Hinman avenue, entertained at a luncheon Friday in honor of her cousin, Mrs. David E. Boyce of New York, who is her guest for two weeks. Covers were laid for ten.

Mr. and Mrs. Earle A. Bronson and little daughter, Edith, 800 Simpson street, returned Tuesday from Gull Lake, Michigan, having spent a delightful week at the summer home of Prof. and Mrs. Solon C. Bronson.

A formal party and dance was given Thursday by margaret Johnston, 620 Custer avenue, in honor of Clara von Hofsten of Evanston, who left Sunday for Richmond, Virginia, where she will attend the normal school.

Mr. M.N. Angelsberg, 831 Warren Street, [damaged page] M. Geimer, 811 Oakton street; and P. Geimer of Chicago left Thursday for an extended motoring and fishing trip through Wisconsin. They will make a short stay at the Maribel hotel, Maribel, Wisconsin.

Mrs. A. F. Stults and daughter, Frances, 724 Emerson street; Mrs. Elmer Stults and baby, Elizabeth, of Ravenswood, and Mrs. Stults' niece, Mrs. Ann Stults, and her little daughter, Catherine, of Macon Mo., are visiting Mrs. Stults' old home, Frankfort, Ohio.

Thursday evening about forty young friends of Miss Myrtle Dunn, 1016 Lake street, the Misses Anna and Edith Deane, ascting as spoksmen, met at Miss Dunn's home and gave a suprise party and miscellaneous shower in her honor, her wedding being set for September aa. Games and refreshments were a delightful feature of the evening.

Miss Emma Rutter of Asbury Park, N.J., is visiting Mr. and Mrs. H.G. Butler, 2519 Harrison street.

The Brotherhood of Wheadon, M.E. Church gave an ice cream social on the church lawn Friday evening.

Miss Inez Traxler, 711 Emerson street, has just returned from her vacation spent at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

Miss Esther Ward, 825 Ayars place, left Monday for Onarga, Illinois, to take charge of music in Onarga seminary.

Miss Louise Ross of the Avenue House returned Friday from a six weeks' visit to northern Michigan resorts.

Mrs. Charles H. Harbert, 415 Greenwood boulevard, went to the Evanston hospital Friday for the removal of her tonsils.

Miss Anna L. Peterson of Omaha, Neb., is spending the summer with her sister, Mrs. F. K. Jackson, 416 Dempster street.

Mr. William Jenings of Watertown, Wisconsin, arrived Saturday to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Jennings, 1612 Maple Avenue.

Mr. Herbert E. Ross of the Avenue House returned Saturday from a five weeks' visit to Boyne City, Michigan, the guest of Mr. H. Nemitz.

Miss Mae Traxler, 711 Emerson street, left Monday to teach Latin and algebra in the Beardstown, Illinois, high school the coming year.

Miss Ida M. Rickey of Park place returned Saturay from a lake trip to Duluth and Port Arthur. On the way home she spent several days at Mackinac.

Mr. and Mrs. A. Howard McConnell, 1319 Church street, gave a dinner Friday evening in honor of Mr. J.W. Harris of New York. Covers were laid for nine.

Miss Genevieve Steigelman, 1113 Sherman avenue, has returned from a delightful trip to Niagara Falls and New York City. She was gone ten days. Her sister, Mrs. Arthur Morby, accompanied her on the trip.

Mrs. Virgil Stephens, 1016 Ayars place, went to Berwyn, Illinois, Monday to reside. Her husband, Prof. Stephens, graduated from Northwestern in 1908, and from 1909 to 1911 has been professor of biology in a college at Marshall, Mo. This year he enters Northwestern Medical school to become a physician. Mrs. Stephens will teach in the high school at Berwyn.

A wedding of interest in North Evanston was that of Miss Bessie May Brochon, 1728 Livingston street, to Mr. William Charles Sonnen, 2614 Harrison street, yesterday at the bride's parents' home. Miss Marie Hansen of Evanston was maid of honor. Miss Eleanor Longfellow of San Diego, California, was the bridesmaid. Miss Helen Sonnen played the wedding march. The little Misses Barbara Sonnen, Margaret and Anna May Blackburn of Evanston and Dorothy Clark of Winnetka stretched the ribbons, Mr. William Edmund Brochon gave his sister away and Mr. Robert Sonnen, the groom's brother, was best man.

Miss Ethel Hyde, 2142 Maple avenue, and about twenty-five young friends gave a beach party Thursday evening at the foot of Cook street in honor of her sister, Miss Flora Hyde, who will go away as a foreign missionary in November. The party was chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. Horace G. Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Charles French. A moonlight night in mid-summer, a cool lake breeze roughing the wave sufficiently to require a windbreak, a cove of two boats, and a happy crowd of young ladies and gentlemen toasting marshmallows, eating wieners and prophesying long dreams of the future was the record of the evening.
