- News about New Trier Township High School. The golf team won the championship of the Suburban league last Saturday: Harold Gruver, Clarence Cormack, Robert McElroy, Hugh Whitelaw and Husted Meyer. Sports awards for excellence in various sports were given to Hazel Jones, Dorothy Brown, Elizabeth Shipman, Elizabeth Kimball, Beth Thompson, Ethel Blasius, Ora MacDonald and Winifred Bartholf. Baseball awards were presented to Ogden Cook, Clarence Cormack, Shelby Singleton, George Hicks, Burch Schultze, Donald Sample, Hugh Whitelaw, Harvey Hopp, Edward Pringle, John Bellows, Henry Borsch, Merritt Brusch, Theodore Cox, Edward Parmelee, Leroy Hammond and Paul Sample. Basketball awards to Edward parmelee, Hugh Whitelaw, Burch Schultze, John Bellows, Jim Patterson, Ogden Cook and Hovey Tinsman. Heavy-weight basketball team had no losses during the season. Members were Ralph Connor, Paul Sample, David Nethercot, Andrew Digre, Shelby Singleton, Harold Gruver and Clarence Cormack. Swim team awards to champions of the Suburban league: Roger Weld, Prentice Couffer, Tom Pope, Gilbert Stafford,d Wallace Baxter, Ogden Cook, Francis Allen, Jack Searle, Lawrence McCurdy, Chester Ambler, Hugh Whitelaw, Gardiner Cole, Sidney Huguenin and Ralph Thorsen. The popularity of the sports programs is grounds for its expansion. Brief discussion of plans.
The Honor Society met last Friday evening in the lunch hall for dinner. A program of toasts followed the dinner led by Mr. Brown with responses by Miss Packer, Mr. Walker, Mary Quayle, Marcelle Laval, Ruth Lieber, Elizabeth Shipman, Hovey Tinsman, Malcolm Melville and Theodore Cox. - Date of Publication
