- Three Evanston men, George B. Currier, J. Edgar Lee and Pratt Underwood, narrowly escaped death when the "Leda," Currier's yacht, became disabled eighty-five miles northeast of Milwaukee. The trio were entered in the annual marathon race to Harbor Springs, Michigan, between the Chicago and Columbia Yacht clubs. Besides the three local men, Leonard Chandler, Charles MacLean, Tom Waage, Jr. and Jay Bryant of Chicago were aboard the yacht.
