- The Wilmette Civic Association will have a contest to promote beautiful lawns and gardens at private homes. It will be open to all residents. The contest was announced by Mr. Hoyt King at a meeting. The goal is to improve Wilmette. Winners will receive prizes. There will be five awards. One will be for the block with most harmonious and park-like arrangement of lawns. Another will be for the home with the most beautiful lawn. A third will be for the home with thoe most improvement in one season. A fourth will be for the most beautiful flower garden and a fifth will be for the most attractive flower garden cultivated by children. Mr. King gave suggestions during his talk. He encouraged improvement of the West Side.
