- The Village Board amended the code earlier this moth to clarify the use of outdoor fire pits and portable fireplaces. Comments by Community Development Director John Adler. The amendments approved Feb. 9 list the conditions under which open burning is allowed. The complete ordinance may be found in Chapter 3 of the online version of hte village code on the web site www.wilmette.com
