"Go to Church" Sunday Attracts Attention

Pastors of north shore churches extending from Wilmette north to Highland Park have joined heartily in the "Go to Church" movement for Sunday, February 1, and as a result of the widespread campaign, all records are expected to be broken in point of attendance at the various houses of worship in the villages next Sunday. Neither time nor energy has been spared during the last week or [unclear] in working on the project and churchmen are busy urging and inviting their friends to attend church next Sabbath.
The movement was started in Chicago by the Chicago Ministers Assembly [unclear] and practically all the suburban ministers took the subject up with much interest. Likewise the members of the congregations joined in helping the good work along and [unclear] predicted that persons who have not been inside a church for many years will appear as special guests of the churchgoers next Sunday.
In Wilmette a general committee has been in charge of the work promoting the "Go to Church" movement. Ways and means have been mapped out which will help get out the largest number possible of persons not accustomed to attending church. The names of the members of this committee and the churches they represent follow: Wilmette Presbyterian church, M. D. Lunn and W. H. Wold; Wilmette Congregational, Dr. Lester Mee; Wilmete Baptist, J. D. Gregg; Wilmette Episcopalian, Dr. W. A. Montgomery; Wilmette Methodist, J. C. Mannerud; St. Francis Xavier, J. F. Wiedlin.
To spread the news about the campaign, pennants have been attached to automobiles, delivery wagons have been covered with [unclear] big signs proclaiming the "Go to Church" day, placards have been placed in store windows, etc.
In Winnetka, the membrs of the Christ church, Congregational, Sacred Heart and Swedish churches have taken a live interest in the movement and are urging everyone to observe the day in attending some one of these churches in the village.
Likewise in Glencoe the Union church, the North Shore Methodist church and the St. Elizabeth's church have planned special services for the day. In Kenilworth the Church of the Holy Comforter and the Kenilworth Union church will observe the day with a hearty welcome to every resident and visitor.
