- The Wilmette Arts Guild Festival of Fine Arts was held last weekend. The show featured 80 artists and performers including Katie Kuhn, Inna Melnikov, Wilmette Community Band and students from the Paul Green School of Rock Music in Evanston. Ursula Jonas of Highland Park won first prize for her work in acrylics. Oil painter Lucie Phillips of Kenilworth took second place. Gordon France, a watercolorist from LaGrange took third place. Honorable mentions were earned by Zuxin Yu, Jason Fricke, Ryan Synovek and Marilynn Robinson. A group of local businesses, Friends of Art, selected Keri Ippolito, Gordon France and Joy Bauer to display their art at The Noodle restaurant in Wilmette. Mark Pflughoeft was selected for a free advertisement in the local "What's Happening" newspaper. The Wilmette Garden Club awarded a prize to photographer Katie Berman and the Alliance Francaise honored Mae Connor.
