- Hannah Arney, of Wilmette Junior High School, was 10 when her older sister, Kira, died of cancer in 2006. The Arney family, which also includes two sons, Chandler 11, and Nate, 8, established Kira's Fund to support Children's Memorial Hospital. Hannah Arney decided, as part of a school service project, to organize a fund raiser called the Kirathon in honor of her sister. The event, featuring music, art activities and groups walking laps was held May 29 at Mallinckrodt Park in Wilmette. The event raised over $75,000.
