Sentenced to the Oregon State Penitentiary for an indeterminate period of from one to four years, Edmund E. [unclear] Von Klein, former Evanston diamond broker and horseman, accepted his fate calmly Saturday when Judge Kavanaugh in a Portland, Oregon, court pronounced the sentence. When taken from his cell into court, Von Klein feigned illness. However, he did not collapse nor pretend to be fainting when the sentence was read.
When the verdict of guilty to living polygamously with Ethel Newcomb was returned last week by a jury Von Klein fainted. Since that time he has feigned illness but the authorities declare that it has been for effect. Von Klein's attorney was given fifteen days following the verdict last week to make a plea for a new trial.- Featured Link
