- Two high school sophomores hosted a "Music for Guatemala" fundraiser Sunday at Glencoe Union Church to purchase musical instruments for a Central American orphanage they both visited as part of their church's youth outreach program. Donations totaled close to $2,5000. The students are Jessie Rooth, 15, of Highland Park High School, and Jessie Serrino, 16, of New Trier High School. Jessie Rooth played a trumpet solo and Jessie Serrino performed a hand bell duet with 14 bells. Other music included a violin solo by Emiel DeJaegher, 10, of WInnetka, a clarinet solo by Bob Taylor of Wilmette, and songs by the Anthem Choir and the Bell choir. The concert was followed by a pancake brunch organized by Steve Jambor of Winnetka.
