Miss Margaret Mitchell of Girton is very ill at the Presbyterian hospital, Chicago
Yesterday afternoon the Community House dancing class gave a Christmas party in the gymnasium.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles N. Strong will give a dance for their daughter on the evening of December 30, at the Woman's Club.
A Salmagundi party was held at the Community House Monday evening by the members of the Congregational Church.
Miss Helen Farrell of Chicago, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. P. J. R. Farrell, will give a luncheon Monday.
Mrs. George Blynd and Miss Allen from Chicago Commons were entertained over Sunday by Mrs. M. Lieber.
Miss Sarah Hoyt will leave tomorrow for Cleveland to pass a couple of weeks with Mr. and Mrs. A. A. [illegible]
Mrs. Arnold Gilmore, Mrs. George W. Blossom and Mrs. Phelps B. Hoyt will give a dance Monday evening, at the Woman's Club.
A large dinner party was given in honor of the birthday of Mr. Douglas Smith, Thursday evening of last week, at the family residence.
Mrs. Floyd Clinch of Hubbard Woods will give a tea-dance New Year's day from four to seven, for Miss Margaret and Mr. Duncan Clinch.
A dancing class under the management of Mrs. Paul D. Blake will be held every Saturday evening at Community House.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles N. Strotz [unclear] and daughter are spending three weeks in visits to New York, Baltimore, Washington, Boston and Ithaca.
Mrs. M. R. [unclear] Kultchar and Miss Kultchar, who have been staying at the Kenilworth Inn, have taken the S. H. [?] Greeley house for the winter.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Poff of Olney, Illinois, spent Sunday with their son, Dr. D. W. Poff. Mr. and Mrs. Poff are making an extended trip to the Pacific coast, where they will pass the winter.
Preceding the annual party of the "Butchers and Bakers and Candlestick Makers" on the evening of January 6 (twelfth night) many dinners will be given. Among the hostesses are to be Mrs. Arthur Meeker, Mrs. John Lewis Cochran, and Mrs. John Allen Haines.
A dance by the Old Time Dance Club was held at the Community House Saturday evening. Many of the members of this club also belong to the Fortnightly. A dance is given once a month under the management of Mr. R. A. Hoagland.
The kindergarten class of the Congregational Sunday School will have its Christmas tree Friday in the assembly room, Community House. The primary class will hold its Christmas party Saturday in the gymnasium at Community House.
The last of four dances given by a group of Winnetka people for the benefit of the Chicago Associated Charities was held at Mrs. John Stewart's residence Monday evening. The previous dances have been given by Mrs. Ettingshouse, Mrs. Lyman Walker and Mrs. John W. Scott.
The Drama League of Chicago announces the following awards in the children's play writing contest: first prize, "The Blue Prince," by Alice C. D. Riley; second prize, "The Golden Birds," by Ruth E. Sherwod; third prize, "My Lady's Yuletide," by Isabelle J. Meaker and Eleanor Ellis Perkins.
On Tuesday evening a bridge party was given in the art gallery at the residence of Mrs. Potter Palmer for the benefit of the Emerson Hough settlement of Chicago. The party, which was given by invitation, was under the direction of the Woman's Club of the settlement, of which Mrs. Thomas Fitzgerald is president.- Featured Link
