The regular meeting of the Wilmette Trustees was held Tuesday night with all members present except Mr. Fred. D. Buckman. The contract for the paving of a portion of fifth street was awarded to Foley & Co. of Evanston. A communication regarding the testing of water meters was received from the city of Evanston and was referred to the sewer and water committee. A communication from Mr. H. K. Snider claiming that the water bill for his Washington avenue residence was excessive was referred to the sewer and water committee. A request for permission to move a house submitted by Hall Caster [unclear] was referred to the street and alley committee. It was stated in the meting that some of hte charitable organizations in the village are anxious to secure the co-operaion of the village in helping them take care of tramps and homeless men who daily apply for assistance. At present, these men are allowed to sleep in the basement of the village hall, but it was suggested that some arrangement could be made whereby the men, by working an hour or two the following day, could in this way earn a good substantial breakfast. No definite action was taken in the matter.
